Mental illness is often stigmatized and embarrassing for people to discuss, let alone seek treatment for. We are here to help build bridges that reduce stigma and improve your overall well-being. Mental health is fundamental for overall wellness and to help enable you to thrive, not just survive.
We believe that everyone:
Has the right to personal safety and security
Has the right to confidentiality and privacy
Has the right to dignity and respect
Has the right to compassion without stigma or unnecessary judgment
Has the right and responsibility to thrive and live up to his or her full potential, regardless of ethnicity, culture, religion, race, sex, gender, age, sexual/affectional orientation, or genetic information.
Psychiatric mental health evaluations
Using a holistic, collaborative approach, we complete a comprehensive assessment to explore your medical and mental health history, stressors, symptoms, and goals. We then work as a team to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your unique needs. An evaluation usually takes between 60 and 90 minutes. Thorough evaluations using active listening and various screening tools are ways we help you thrive, not just survive.
Psychiatric medication management
If part of our agreed-upon treatment plan includes medications, then periodic visits lasting between 15 and 45 minutes will be scheduled to discuss the effectiveness of the medication(s), side effects, and to reassess your goals. Medications are often necessary to help relieve symptoms of psychiatric conditions. Necessary medication education is also part of this service to help you understand how the medication(s) work to help you. We do embrace evidence-based complementary medicine, including vitamins and other supplements. Medications for psychiatric conditions are one very important service we offer to help you to thrive, not just survive.
Psychotherapy
We focus on the integration of education and concepts of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for all services offered. Therapy provided by us is often brief and solution-focused. CBT is one of the most effective types of therapy for many mental health conditions. CBT focuses on your individual thoughts which can be “distorted”, and the resulting emotions in an effort to help restructure the way you think about yourself and others, the world and your environment, and situations that may be unique to you. Solution-focused therapy (SFT) is also supported by a vast amount of scientific evidence, and is brief, present-focused, and goal-oriented. SFT is not meant to be long term, is not meant to dissect your past traumas or analyze your dreams. SFT focuses on the here-and-now, the positives and not the negatives, and is also very goal-oriented. We also have local contacts for referral if more extensive psychotherapy is needed or desired. CBT and SFT can be completed in addition to a medication management visit, and are very important to our services that can help you thrive, not just survive.
Spiritual-based therapy
We believe in addressing human wellness from a holistic perspective, including body, mind, and spirit. Bradley’s Christian faith is foundational to his own wellness, and if you would to like apply a Christian perspective to your treatment plan (such as prayer, meditation on scripture, discussing issues through the lens of the Bible), we encourage this! However, we realize that not everyone has the same faith or belief system, and this is not required. We respect your decision, and will never try to push our beliefs on you. Addressing spiritual needs is another way we can help you thrive, not just survive.
